Tom has been at First Congregational United Church
of Christ of Alpena since October 2004. He comes to ministry as a
second career after operating a business in photography in his home of
northwest Ohio. Tom earned his Master of Divinity from the Methodist
Theological School in Ohio.
"First Congregational UCC of Alpena is a church of diversity, diverse
ideas and thinking. That is one of our strengths. We are able to have
discussions around topics in the news and how our faith calls us to
respond. We are not all of one mind in this church. We are committed to
living our faith. This is also a church that believes in mission and
serving. The church has been instrumental along with others in starting
several community projects, such as Habitat for Humanity and Call Us
for Help, that meets needs in the community. We have been blessed to
have resources that are able to help others and to share them."
Raised at the Wauseon Congregational United Church of Christ in Ohio,
Tom strongly believes in the UCC and its commitment as a progressive
voice in Christianity that addresses issues of the day while being
faithful to and growing in following Jesus.
Tom and his wife Kathleen enjoy the out of doors available in northeast
Michigan from woods to water.
