Serve
the Lord with gladness; come before His presence with
singing Psalm 100:2
Music plays an integral part in the worship service
at First Congregational. We are blessed with a very
dedicated, talented group of singers under the direction of Judith Case
with Betsy Adamus as our accompanist.
Each
and every Sunday, the Chancel Choir embodies the words of Psalm
100. The group indeed serves the Lord gladly and helps to lead
our Sunday morning worship services with a joy found only in a group of
people who truly loves not only what they are doing, but also loves one
another.
The
Chancel Choir was a featured choir at the World Peace Concert held at
St. Anne Catholic Church in October, 2008. Our Christmas pageant
in December is a wonderful tradition with the children participating in
creating the Manger tableau. Seventeen
brave souls set forth on a bitterly cold, snowy night December 22nd,
2008 and went Christmas caroling to 12 different locations spreading
Christmas cheer and bringing smiles to so many faces. At various
times during the year we feature our exceptional "back row" of tenors
and basses in a special anthem. Not to be outdone, the ladies
also present anthems specifically composed for ladies choruses.
Our
Choir year concludes in June with a now eagerly anticipated Gospel
Sunday. This tradition of 20 years is a" pull out the stops, toe
tapping, hand clapping" celebration of the joy of God's love
through the singing of spirituals and gospel anthems.
Choir
rehearsals are Wednesday from 6-7 p.m. All are welcome to
join us in praising the Lord through music.
The
music program at First Congregational also includes the Handbell choir
under the direction of Avery Aten and an African drum ensemble also
directed by Avery Aten. These musical groups add so much to our
worship services and we appreciate the time and effort everyone offers
so that we may praise God through music.
