Children
Our Christian Education program for grades
Pre-K through Grade 6 is based on the Workshop Rotation Model
(WoRM). This program enables teachers to use kid-friendly
multimedia workshops to teach Bible stories and concepts. The
multi-intelligences (creative methods) approach in the model takes
advantage of a child’s God-given thirst for multi-modal learning.
Current workshops include “Bedouin Encampment” and “Mary and Martha’s
Bed and Breakfast” (storytelling and activities centers), “Created by
the Spirit” (art), “Eat Your Way Through the Bible” (prepare and eat
food as an illustration of a Bible story), “Puppet Mania” (puppetry)
and “Faith Issues Today” (making the Bible story relevant to issues of
today’s world.)
Important dates for children throughout the year include:
- Fall start date for C.
E. classes (September 13th);
- “Children’s Sabbath
Sunday” (October 18th),
- Our annual
Children’s Christmas Pageant (December 20th), and
- “Tools of Hope/Blanket
Sunday” (during the month of February).
Other possible opportunities for children include liturgical dance,
percussion ensemble, handbells, and children’s labyrinth activities.

Adult Christian
Education
Our Sunday Adult CE
class has
entitled their class Practical Theology. They meet after Fellowship
Time on
Sunday mornings to discuss living out our faith in the world today.
Often times
the class uses a resource that asks how we are to respond as Christians
to a specific
item in the news. Other times the curriculum has dealt with themes and
the
scripture that addresses them.
Beyond
Sunday, several times a year there is a
book study of a contemporary author held during the week. In addition,
several
groups meet on a regular basis for learning and discussion: Spiritual
Practices
- that discusses growing in our faith through specific practices
(activities),
Brown Bag with the Pastor for wide ranging discussions, and Building
Bridges to
Understanding: Christianity, Islam and Judaism - to understand these
other
faiths and how we can work together.
